Gordon Brown Financial Fool

A Genuine Letter Received at No 10 Downing Street which remains unanswered!!! The letter was acknowledged but no answer. After I saw my own Labour MP (now gone) I did get some kind of weak response from the treasury.

4th February 2010

The Prime Minister
No 10 Downing Street
London

Dear Sir

Private Pensions – Loss of some 150 Billion due to your stealth tax from ordinary working people.

The Previous Government to yours had a campaign of incentives for ordinary working people so that they could provide for an additional personal pension so that they would help to fund their own retirement and at the same time reduce the burden on the National Insurance pension scheme.

Many working people took up these options and it was generally regarded as I understand it by all political parties that it was a prudent idea for people to try and make provision to provide additional pension income at retirement.

When this was introduced the Pension providers were able to reclaim the Tax that was paid on the dividend income that they received.

That of course, had many advantages for Pension Schemes and the Economy generally.

Pension Schemes had for many years invested in the UK Stock Market which over a long term view had proved to be a good place for pension schemes to invest.

The additional income tax that was recovered provided additional income streams that also allowed pension schemes to invest further into the stock market.

When your government came to power and indeed in your first budget in 1997 when you were Chancellor of the Exchequer you did away with ACT (Advanced Corporation Tax) and in so doing you reduced the income that Pension Schemes were receiving at the same time you made the stock market a much less attractive place for pension funds to invest in.

By so doing you created a scenario for a financial melt down in the UK Pension Industry and brought on a Stock market decline.

Many life and Pension companies were brought to their knees and undoubtedly you as the Chancellor of the Exchequer are directly responsible for this.

You meddled in business affairs of which you had very little knowledge.

You took a careless and risky decision and it has backfired in your face.

I quote some extracts from Liam Halligan, Economics Editor of the Daily Telegraph and the full text is at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1531448/Browns-raid-on-pensions-costs-Britain-100-billion.html
Gordon Brown's notorious "pension stealth tax" has reduced the value of retirement funds by at least £100 billion, independent research has disclosed.
This is more than twice as much as the combined pension deficits of the country's 350 biggest companies.
The total current and future impact of Mr Brown's move — known technically as the abolition of Advanced Corporation Tax (ACT) relief — has been calculated by Terry Arthur, a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, in a paper written for the professional body. Mr Arthur said: "What happened in 1997 represented an enormous and ongoing raid on the assets of UK company pension schemes. My research shows it would be very hard to justify an impact of less than £100 billion — and even £150 billion may still be a conservative estimate."
Derek Scott, who was Mr Blair's senior economic adviser for six years, said that the Prime Minister disagreed with Mr Brown's decision to remove relief, but the Chancellor "pushed it through" anyway.

“He either doesn't understand private pensions or he doesn't care about them, which is hardly prudent."
A Treasury spokesman said: "This methodology totally fails to recognise that, by establishing a stable macro-economic framework and cutting corporation tax alongside reforms to remove the distortionary impact of dividend tax credit, the Government created better conditions for investment and growth and hence greater investment opportunities for pension funds."
Of course the Treasury spokesman failed to understand that -:

The action taken by you destabilized the existing macro-economic framework.

Pension funds need income and cash flow and mere speculative growth is not a safe or PRUDENT policy. Your actions show that you adopted a policy of boom or bust for pensions the complete opposite of what you and your party had promised

Your policy was distorted in that it attacked pension funds that were investing to the Stock market and this would include all pension providers :-

Standard Life
Scottish Mutual
National Provident Mutual
Equitable Life
Prudentual

BUT EXCLUDED self administered pension finds that received their income either from mortgage loans as gross interest or from rental from commercial property. There were then and are now self administered pension schemes that invest solely in these assets. So you failed to create a LEVEL playing field.

It is clear that you failed to properly research or consider this properly if at all.

I think it is fair to say that through your actions EVERY person who had a pension that was invested in the Stock Market have had their final pensions reduced very considerably and I believe that it is also fair to say that your actions have taken more money from peoples pension Schemes than Robert Maxwell ever did.

The main point which I am sure will haunt you for the rest of your life is that you hurt the ORDINARY WORKING MAN as many had taken up monthly personal pension plans which were available at quite modest monthly sums.

You hurt the mass of ordinary working people in this country as Government officials – Civil servants – Police etc were not affected in any way by your short sighted policy as their pensions are funded in a completely different and better way.

I look forward to hearing your detailed explanation of such gross financial miss management.

Yours faithfully

British Army Soldier Snubs Gordon Brown

British war hero Lance Corporal Beharry Johnson VC has revealed he snubbed the Prime Minister and wanted to "knock him out" because he did think that Gordon Brown had shown enough respect for the armed forces.

The Victoria Cross winner said he had refused to shake Gordon Brown's hand during a Remembrance Day service in November.

Lance Corporal Beharry told The Sun he was moved to act after the Prime Minister fidgeted during a two-minute silence.

"All that was going through my head was to knock him out. I decided I'd get his attention and let him know how I felt," he said.

"When he offered his hand to me I just turned round and walked away. I wanted him to think about his actions and it worked."

He said the Prime Minister also seemed "totally disinterested" at a Downing Street reception for servicemen a year earlier.

"This is nothing to do with the election, or who I want to be PM. My problem is with him personally, Gordon Brown the man," he added.

Mr Brown has written to L/Cpl Beharry to "reassure him of his personal admiration and great respect in which he is held by the whole country," his official spokesman said.

He had been "delighted" to host the 2008 event at No 10 and "pleased to be able to be introduced to a man he admires greatly," the spokesman continued.

"The Prime Minister has the utmost respect and admiration for L/Cpl Beharry, who has shown great courage serving our country," he added.

L/Cpl Beharry, from 1st Battalion Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, became the first living recipient of the Victoria Cross since 1965.

He was given the honour after twice braving enemy fire to save colleagues in Iraq.

So there we have it from a real hero his view on the Character of Gordon Brown.

Gordon Brown fails the British Army

It was reported in the Daily Telegraph of March 10th that British
Soldiers “would be alive” if they had the right equipment.

The relatives’ of the first female soldier Cpl Sarah Bryant killed in Afghanistan in 2008 would be alive if the Labour Government had provided the proper much needed equipment and training.

The coroner’s verdict was that they were killed unlawfully

The coroner said that they did not have the proper equipment

The prime minister said today 10th March 2010 that the training was being improved and equipment was being improved but this is all too little to late. He has been the Chancellor since 1997 for some 11 years so it is pathetic that he is only NOW sending more equipment and arranging for better training.

Cpl Sarah Bryant was killed in Helmand Province in Afghanistan on June 17th 2008. With her were killed Cpl Sean Reeve, L/Cpl Richard Larkin and Trooper Paul Stout when their Snatch Land Rover was hit by a roadside bomb. The Snatch Land Rover was not designed for Afghanistan it had previously been deployed in Northern Ireland. This vehicle has been involved in 37 deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The inquest was told how British soldiers had repeatedly asked for Wimik Land Rovers which have much better off road ability where as the Snatch is designed for use on Tarmac Roads.

When the British soldiers were informed that they would only have the Snatch Land Rover for their specific operation they greeted the news with some “disbelief” indeed soldiers had nick named these vehicles as “Mobile Coffins”.

They were made to use regular routes as they could not drive off road.

They had used a metal detector to check a water course for mines but some 70 metres later the Snatch vehicle detonated a mine hidden in a shallow ditch. The blast was described as huge. All four died almost instantly. IF and I know if is a big word but IF they had been driving a Wimik they would very probably have driven either side of the water course and therefore would have had a far greater possibility of surviving.

A former infantry commander called this vehicle a “death trap” and Dr Richard North a defence expert had advised that it was “totally inadequate” for dealing with mines and bombs.

Major Sebastian Morley the SAS squadron commander in Helmand province resigned four months after this terrible incident and he accused the Labour government of being “Cavalier at best Criminal at worst “ over equipping troops. He accused Whitehall officials of or continually ignoring warnings that people would be killed if they continued to allow troops to be transported in Snatch Land Rovers.

At the inquest into their deaths evidence was heard that they were forced to use this vehicle because of vehicle shortages and that they lacked training in the use of metal detectors. Rather crucial I would have thought when you need to detect mines that are made of metal.

The Labour Government says that the defence budget is rising but that is the very least that you would expect if you have two wars to fight one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan..

They failed to plan
They failed to act
They failed to equip the troops with the proper equipment

Therefore the deaths of these Soldiers must fall on their conscious. This is the Blair Brown legacy soldiers sent to war ill equipped not properly trained now two years AFTER these soldiers death Brown is arranging for new equipment to be delivered in the later half of 2010 he has missed the boat – to little too late he has been the chancellor since 1997.

Yes this is the Brown Blair Legacy unlawful killing (Coroners verdict) of British Soldiers which is brought home to us every week as those lines of Black Hearses proceed through Wooton Basset bringing back our dead heroes.

The time has come now for the electorate to remove these people from power we cannot afford to waste any more lives.

Gordon Brown has let down the bravest in the British Army and the British People he can not be allowed to continue. Giving incorrect statements to the Chilcott enquiry (lying) about the funding of the Army. Allowing our bravest and dearest to be unlawfully killed due to lack of equipment and proper funding. It is a total disgrace.

Before the Chilcott enquiry he said that the budget was always increased after allowing for inflation and he had to withdraw that statement as it was a lie. But the real failure is that when he was Chancellor and as Prime Minister he never set a proper war budget.

Gordon Brown gives very poor defence of 12 years of new Labour

Gordon Brown explains that whilst our borrowing is higher than ever our debt is not !!! The Interviewer knows more than he does. He comes over as financial illiterate or a complete financial fool!!! Gordon Brown gets completely battered by the interviewer.

The interviewer clearly has a greater understanding of finance that Gordon Brown (that would not be difficult as Brown's hero's are Jo Stalin and Mao) he sounds as if he is from another planet the Planet Duffus or is it the Planet Zog.

As Gordon Brown said the British People will decide the election and give him the biggest kick that he so badly deserves.

Gordon Brown will deal with and fix:-

Social Care - Teenage Pregnancies - Antisocial Behaviour - Drunken Louts
Create jobs for young people - Create low carbon jobs
Deal with the problems of the economy that he helped create.

Great talk but he and his government have had 13 years to deal with all of this. But its clear that he try's to talk the talk but in fact he can not walk the walk.

Remember the son of Brown Ed Milliband is now the leader of the Labour Party and he was one one of Browns economic advisors when Brown was chancellor.

Dear Sir

You have, I believe, been a very good chancellor during your term of office under somewhat difficult times. You come across as being both honest and fair in what you say and I think people trust you.

However I am less than pleased with your predecessor Gordon Brown for many reasons.

Some of which are:-

 Selling the UK’s reserves of gold at US$400 per ounce as opposed to the market value currently of just in excess of US$1,100. A prudent man might have sold part of the Holding only an imprudent man would sell all of the holding.

 The removal of the ability of UK pension finds to reclaim ACT on their dividend income thereby impacting considerably on the future growth of all pensions that were invested with such long established pension providers as, for example, Scottish Mutual, Scottish Widows, NPI National Provident Institution and the oldest Mutual of them all Equitable life all of whom had always invested predominantly in the UK Stock Market. I think it us fair to say that Gordon Brown has lost more money from peoples pension finds than Robert Maxwell ever did.

 By eliminating the Ability of the Pension Providers to reclaim the taxation element of their income he helped create a stock market crash as the concept of investing for Tax Free income was now far less attractive.

More so I wrote to the Prime Minister on 4th February and have yet to receive any form of substantive reply. Mr G Edwards of The Direct Communications Unit did kindly acknowledge my letter on the 18th February and says has passed it to the treasury?

What is the point in having a communications unit if they cannot communicate?

I am not asking for Rocket Science simply a reply.

It is clearly less than acceptable that a former Chancellor of the Exchequer will not take responsibility for his actions and will not reply to simple letters and pass them off to the treasury to be dealt with when they are matters that he is responsible for.

I enclose copies of correspondence to the Prime Minister and Mr G Edwards at the Non Communications Unit which I hope are self explanatory.

I was a member of Equitable Life which failed under the watch of your predecessor and the Labour Government.

The failure I believe is due to your predecessors recklessness in removing ACT at a stroke and by the lack of proper supervision by your government of Equitable Life.

Perhaps you could either chase up the treasury to reply to me or indeed have a word with the PM the next time you see him and see if he can spare the time to reply to me.

Also can you let me know please what action is in hand to reimburse policy holders like me who have suffered by the collapse of Equitable Life?

Perhaps Allastair Darling does not wish to reply in case the "Forces of Hell" are let loose on him again!!!

Will Gordon Brown Survive

What ever we may think of Gordon Brown Prime Minister he does appear to be quite a survivor but in many ways he does remind me of a captain on a ship that has lost control of its steering, navigation, sonar and radar systems and is in thick fog.

There are rocks and even Icebergs ahead but the Ship continues at full speed.

Captains of industry shout warnings but as always Gordon Brown knows best and his ship seems to continue at full steam ahead.

He is a Captain who has survived three serious mutinies from his own crew members and was able to continue to sail on more than what Captain Bligh on HMS Bounty could do.

He did unleash the forces of hell on Allistair Darling who was onlytrying to do his job.

His record as Chancellor will probaly be judged as one of the worst if not the worst since the end of WW11.

I have absolutely no doubt that he helped to create the most serious recession in the UK since the 1930's.

He relaxed the banking controls and before we knew it local authorities and police pension funds were investing in unknown Banks from Iceland. What a farce.

On 10th March 2010 he gave a speech in the City of London.

In this speech he invited the country to trust him to see the UK through the current turbulent economic storms. He has to be joking as all the problems have arisen under his watch or should I say lack of.

Whilst he has great resilience, a brass neck and lead armoured underwear his biggest failing (of which there are many) is his failure to accept one jot of responsibility when things go wrong (and inevitably they do who ever you are) whether they be of a military nature, the recession or the break down of social fibre in society you can guarantee he will not take responsibility for anything.

Having said this though I undersand that on Television he is going to admit that he failed to supervise the banks properly and that he made a mistake in cancelling the rate of income tax at 10 pence that he had introduced.

There are considerbaly far more mistakes than just these two.

Absolutely amazingly before the Chilcot enquiry he seemed to say that when he sat in the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer he never had any real input or idea into the funding of the British Army who were at war in Iraq and Afghanistan. What was he doing then. Certainly not his job as any prudent chancellor would want to know exactly what was going on when a country is at war. How else could he control or monitor expenses and funding.

Who exactly is he trying to kid?

If he is really saying that he merely sat in his office and did not get off his chair to ask or seek the information that he would need to know to do the job properly then clearly he has to be a mouse and not a man.

Or is he saying that his predecessor Tony Blair when Prime Minister ran the government in an autocratic way and if so then again Brown was a mouse not to be able to -stand up to Blair for information.

Just look at the upright character of Alistair Darling the successor to Brown as Chancellor who has had the gumption to stand up for his own views against Brown and I have to admire him for that. He does show that there is at least one member in the Labour cabinet who is not a mouse.

Brown when Chancellor clearly failed to fund the war in Afghanistan and Iraq adequately.

I know full well that he said before the Chilcot enquiry that all urgent requests for funding were met and at the same time the defence budget was increased by 1 or 1.5 % in each year. Again he completely misses the point he must think we and the British Electorate are fools.

He fails to understand that in a war the budget has to be ramped up not just kept to minimal increases.

He has subsequently admitted that the information he gave to the Chilcot equiry was flawed in that in real terms the funding had not increased every year as he had claimed

If he had provided the funds the back log of helicopters so badly needed would be in service NOW and not still on the order book equally with the armour plated vehicles.

The question is very simple would Brown go for a drive in a Snatch Land rover the vehicle that has been nicknamed a "mobile coffin".

Can any one really believe that Gordon Brown is for Britain.

A future fair for all. Is this some kind of Fun Fair Fit for a Fool.

What about your poor record.

Gordon Brown states that he is in the future business well he certainly has not been very clever business in the past as he allowed Police pension funds and Local Authorities to Invest in Icelandic Banks.

Gordon Brown is a Financial Fool. He is the only Prime Minsiter to ever give incorrect figures to a Tribunal. Remember he was the Chancellor of the Exchequer so you would hope he would get the figures correct.
